Responsible for the overall operation, profitability, and performance of the convenience store and fuel station — leading customer service, employee management, inventory control, financial performance, food safety, regulatory compliance, merchandising, and facility maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Store Operations
- Manage all daily operations of the convenience store and fuel station.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and fully stocked store environment.
- Oversee fuel operations, equipment functionality, and facility maintenance.
- Ensure proper opening and closing procedures are followed.
- Respond promptly to operational issues and emergencies.
Leadership & Team Management
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, and develop store employees.
- Lead, coach, and motivate Assistant Managers and Customer Service Representatives.
- Prepare employee schedules based on business needs and labor budgets.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching.
- Manage employee attendance, discipline, and corrective actions.
Financial Management
- Achieve sales, profit, and operating expense goals.
- Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports.
- Monitor labor costs and control operating expenses.
- Manage cash handling procedures, bank deposits, and cash audits.
- Investigate and resolve cash shortages or operational discrepancies.
Inventory & Merchandising
- Manage inventory ordering, receiving, and stock levels.
- Control inventory shrinkage through effective loss prevention practices.
- Ensure proper merchandising, pricing, and promotional displays.
- Coordinate with vendors to maintain product availability.
Compliance & Safety
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Enforce alcohol, tobacco, lottery, and age-restricted sales requirements.
- Maintain food safety, sanitation, and health department standards.
- Ensure OSHA and workplace safety standards are followed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of retail or convenience store management experience.
- Previous experience managing fuel station operations preferred.
- Experience with POS systems, cash management, and retail technology.
- Valid driver's license may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins.
